To All Feb 2010 RxPrep Attendees:

Your licensing review program is scheduled for Thursday-Sunday, February 4-7, from 8am-5pm at the Four-Points Sheraton LAX located at 9750 Airport Blvd, Los Angeles, Phone: 310-645-4600 .  We will be in the Los Angeles Room on the lobby level.

 Hotel/Parking Information

The hotel is located at 9750 Airport Blvd, Los Angeles, Phone: 310-645-4600.  Parking is located behind the hotel building (pull in at the front and self parking will wrap you around the back of the hotel). You do not need to have the ticket validated and it can be left in your car.  When you exit the lot at the end of the day, tell the attendant you were attending the RxPrep course and the daily rate of $20 will be reduced to $10.

 Breakfast/Registration/Room Details

The course is in the Los Angeles Room (lobby level).   Please plan on arriving between 7:15-7:30 to get some breakfast/coffee (provided) and sign in to receive your class materials.  Again, please arrive early to sign in.  Class begins promptly at 8:00am.

  • Please turn your cell phone/pager to silent or vibration mode.
  • Bring a calculator that does basic function keys; a simple device is easier to use to keep up with calculations than using the calculator on your cell or PDA. Nothing fancy is required since simple calculators are provided to you at the exam.
  • If you have questions, and it is not deemed board-relevant, we will defer the response to after the course to permit time to complete the material.  We will stay to complete any unanswered questions following the program, or we can talk during the lunch break.  Following the course, both Drs. Brown & Shapiro can make arrangements to help with any topics by phone or email.  We are here to help you pass and questions are welcome, as time permits.
  • We are assigning 1 book and 1 case-practice booklet to each attendant.  Please mark your name on them as soon as they are received & keep them with you.

 Lunch/Dinners

The hotel has a restaurant.  Less-pricey area restaurants include Denny’s, Carl’s Jr, Burger King, and others.  Ask the concierge if you need assistance with lunch/dinner information. For lunch, you can walk to one of the fast food restaurants, eat at the hotel or bring food with you.  The class begins promptly at 1pm following the lunch break.

Question & Answers and Student Posts

We encourage students to post any questions on any of the material covered in class or that you review on your own.  We will answer any relevant posts promptly and discuss with the class the following day.

Students may also submit questions to us via the Contact Us form on the rxprep.com website, or by emailing instuctors@rxprep.com

FDA approves Lusedra (fospropofol disodium) injection for monitored anesthesia care sedation (Dec. 2008)

  6. A says:

Is prasugrel recommend by the acute coronary syndromes guideline? I only see plavix mentioned in the guideline. Thank you.

  7. Ana Knuth says:

I’m taking NAPLEX on Monday, which means that the new blueprint wont apply to my test… what chapters of the book should I skip during my review??

  8. Sherry Brown says:

The ACS guidelines were written before Prasugrel was approved therefore, it is not in the guidelines. -Sherry

  9. Karen Shapiro, PharmD, BCPS says:

Don’t leave out calculations–these are a big part of NAPLEX. New additions include more emphasis on pharmacoeconomics, med safety (but much of this was included), med devices, emergency care (you should know topicals we did in term, Td, and EpiPen anyway).

The other topics we included this year could have been in the old exam anyway (biostats, pharmacogenomics) so don’t skip them. Know basic terms for biostats and the drugs where pharmacogenomics testing is required (carbamazepine, abacavir).

  10. a says:

how much do we have to know for vanco dosing calculations?
